Recent history |
Built to team racing specification for privateer Bill Esplen. Raced in 1931/1932 at Brooklands and Ards, and competed in 1931 Irish Grand Prix at Phoenix park - See race history.
Restored from dereliction in 1970s by Peter Moores, and still owned and run by the Moores family today
Originally painted in Ivory (Talbot team racing colours) now painted green.

After its race history:
Owned by Cicely Blunt who lived with her family in Kent. She commuted up and down to London and worked as a chorus girl, unbeknown to her Dad, who was always on at her to get home earlier. (She lied about what her job was) She bought the Talbot in 1933, so she could race home at night and get in earlier!! She married Robin Whitworth (who supplied these photos) some time in 1934 and off they went to Geneva on their honeymoon. Robin and Cicely owned the Talbot till the mid 1940's.
Geneva 1934
London 34

It was painted black in the 40’s (this from the VSCC Shelton collection)

Discovered by Anthony Blight as a wreck in a cheshire quarry during the 60’s, who pursuaded Peter Moores to buy it for £10 (plus 15 shillings for the wings) as a restoration project.
It was then toured extensively including various Club de l’Auto organised rallies. This was it’s first continental outing after the rebuild - Paris 1970

After a further engine rebuild by Vincent Rawlings it travelled to New Zealand 1994 - 2000

Then back to the UK in 2000 where it was used for summer commuting till 2019, when it suffered an engine catastrophy.
Recent engine rebuild - Now back on the road.
